چکیده

High-resolution far-infrared reflection and polarized ellipsometry, as well as Raman scattering temperature-dependent measurements are used to study spin-phonon and electron-phonon interactions in rare-earth (RE) iron borates with the R32 structure of a natural mineral huntite, namely, in RFe3(BO3)4 with R1⁄4Pr, Nd, and Sm. Pronounced peculiarities in the ω(T) dependences at the Néel temperature TN E32 K are observed for all the compounds studied and the origin of these peculiarities is discussed. A coupling between lattice phonons and crystal-field excitations of a RE ion manifests itself by a renormalization of frequencies and intensities of coupled modes. Modeling of the spectra has revealed the value of about 15 cm 1 for the electron–phonon coupling constant in PrFe3(BO3)4. & 2014 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

ادغام الگوی شبکه‌ای هولشتاین - کاندو برای توصیف نظریه ابررساناهای دمای بالا

It is a common knowledge that the formation of electron pairs is a necessary ingredient of any theoretical work describing superconductivity. Thus, finding the mechanism of the formation of the electron pairs is of utmost importance. There are some experiments on high transition temperature superconductors which support the electron-phonon (e-ph) interactions as the pairing mechanism (ARPES),...

Multiple structural transitions driven by spin-phonon couplings in a perovskite oxide

Spin-phonon interactions are central to many interesting phenomena, ranging from superconductivity to magnetoelectric effects. However, they are believed to have a negligible influence on the structural behavior of most materials. For example, magnetic perovskite oxides often undergo structural transitions accompanied by magnetic signatures whose minuteness suggests that the underlying spin-pho...

Effect of electron-phonon interactions on orbital fluctuations in iron-based superconductors.

To investigate the possibility of whether electron-phonon coupling can enhance orbital fluctuations in iron-based superconductors, we develop an ab initio method to construct the effective low-energy models including the phonon-related terms. With the derived effective electron-phonon interactions and phonon frequencies, we estimate the static part (ω=0) of the phonon-mediated effective on site...

Influence of nonmagnetic Zn substitution on the lattice and magnetoelectric dynamical properties of the multiferroic material CuO

Dynamic magnetoelectric coupling in the improper ferroelectric Cu1−xZnxO (x = 0, x = 0.05) was investigated using terahertz time-domain spectroscopy to probe electromagnon and magnon modes. Zinc substitution was found to reduce the antiferromagnetic ordering temperature and widen the multiferroic phase, under the dual influences of spin dilution and a reduction in unit-cell volume. The impact o...

Magnetic moments induce strong phonon renormalization in FeSi

The interactions of electronic, spin and lattice degrees of freedom in solids result in complex phase diagrams, new emergent phenomena and technical applications. While electron-phonon coupling is well understood, and interactions between spin and electronic excitations are intensely investigated, only little is known about the dynamic interactions between spin and lattice excitations. Noncentr...
